What is S.W.I.R.L.?
An Instructional design that incorporates five pillars of literacy to promote students’ success. SWIRL engages teachers in designing instructional activities that enable all students to better understand and apply learning.
SWIRL (Speaking, Writing, Illustrating, Reading and Listening) is an instructional method used to help young children read on their grade level by the third grade.
Everyday conversation, reading a book, drawing, and simply listening are some of the methods that make S.W.I.R.L. a successful tool.
