The Candler County School District is proud to announce the system-level winners for the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition.
Each grade level had a system-wide winner and those are:
Kindergarten-Emmett Lanier; First Grade-Wrenn Fulginiti; Second Grade-Nathaniel Youmans; Third Grade-Janice Ventura; Fourth Grade-Elsa King; Fifth Grade-Emsley King; Sixth Grade-Abigail Boudreau; Seventh Grade-Marley Thigpen; Eighth Grade-Cadence Hughes; Ninth Grade-Ryleigh Gragg; Tenth Grade-Isabel Silva Ramos; Eleventh Grade-Zoey Edge; and Twelfth Grade-Stephany Manzanita.
The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors writing competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics.
This prestigious competition has been engaging Georgia students for more than two decades and is open to any student currently enrolled in Georgia public schools, grades K-12. The competition is sponsored by the Georgia Language Arts Supervisors (GLAS) and the Georgia RESA Network with support from the Georgia Department of Education.
All winning entries will be submitted to RESA for RESA-Level judging. Winners selected at the this level will be submitted to the state for final judging. Candler County Schools will be notified of any winners selected from our system and will notify families and the media.
